Look for metal hooks above gaps: in the treehouse, on a ship's mast, and late in the game.

With the rope anywhere in his hands, Dizzy can swing from a hook: stand under it and press B.

Keep the rope: standing under a hook with it, B makes Dizzy throw it over the hook and swing across. It's needed near Dylan's hut (A key out of reach near Dylan's hut), in the pirate ship's rigging (Up in the rigging) and in Zaks' castle (A room high in the castle's middle).
